The project aims to transform the Bertalia Lazzaretto district into a new civic hub, designed to be open and inclusive. Embracing the complexity of its context, the proposal envisions an unconventional public space that celebrates diversity rather than imposing a singular ideological vision. By connecting the fragmented parts of the city, the project reduces distances both physically and symbolically fostering integrated and dynamic experiences. The Masterplan establishes a coordinated system of architectural, landscape, and technological solutions, prioritizing the relationship between residential spaces and green areas. The proposal aligns with Bologna’s urban strategies to reduce traffic, combat pollution, and promote sustainable mobility.
Architecturally, the building facades engage harmoniously with the tree-lined avenue, a key feature of the project. The integration of vertical greenery and sustainable design solutions gives the district a distinctive identity, underscoring the commitment to creating socially responsible housing that balances economic and environmental sustainability. The residential design is rooted in a meticulous urban analysis, aiming to reconnect the urban fabric along the east-west and north-south axes, creating a neighborhood that promotes interaction and shared spaces.
